The studio
Two designers and a room full of samples.
Ardley & Pine started in 2013 in a former tannery workshop on Tanner’s Yard. It’s still just the two of us, which means the person who visits your home is the person who designs it.
We work on houses of every age within 30 miles of Ellingford, from Victorian terraces to new builds, and design rooms remotely for clients all over the UK.

Who you’ll work with
Clare and Sam.

Colour, fabric and furnishing
Clare Ardley
Clare trained in textile design and spent ten years choosing fabrics for a furniture maker before starting the studio. She does most of the first visits, and owns more paint charts than is sensible.

Kitchens, bathrooms and drawings
Sam Pine
Sam started out in a joinery workshop and still draws every cabinet to the millimetre. He looks after layouts, lighting plans and the conversations with builders.

The sample library
Come and touch things.
Around 2,000 fabrics, 400 tiles and every paint chart we can get, all at the studio. Book a slot and borrow what you like.
How we work
Three things we always do.
We start with the light
We visit at different times of day and test samples on your walls before anyone opens a tin.
We keep what you love
Grandma’s dresser stays. Good design works around the things that make a house yours.
We say what it costs
Every fee is fixed up front, and every shopping list shows prices before you commit.
“
We’d lived with magnolia for eleven years. Clare had us holding paint cards up at eight in the morning and nine at night, and now the front room is the one everybody heads for.
